On a search page, every firm looks the same
The clearance trade is full of good companies, careful, properly licensed, insured, decades of experience. On a page of search results they are indistinguishable from someone with a hired van and no waste-carrier licence, who will quote half the price and fly-tip the contents in a lay-by.
The householder cannot tell the difference. Someone from the trade can tell in one phone call, from the questions a firm asks, how they price, whether they mention transfer notes, what they say when you tell them it was a family member’s house.
That gap is the entire reason ClearSorted exists. We do the asking, so you do not have to know what to ask.
And it matters legally, not just practically
- Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 your duty of care over household waste does not end at the front door.
- If an unlicensed firm dumps your belongings, the fine can follow you, not just them.
- The only defence is a licensed carrier and a waste transfer note. Every firm here provides one.
Built from inside the trade
Our team has run clearance jobs, priced them and carried them. That experience shapes three things about how ClearSorted works.
Waste-carrier registration against the Environment Agency register. Insurance certificates, sighted and expiry-tracked. References from recent clearances, called and questioned, not collected as screenshots.
Say “third floor, no lift, very full” and you will get a straight answer about what that does to the price. Say “it was my mother’s house” and you will get the right response to that too. No scripts, no call centre.
Your job goes to a maximum of three named firms that you can see. It is never sold to a list, never passed to a call centre, and your phone will not start ringing with companies you have never heard of.
What we are, and what we are not
A matching service. We vet the firms, gather the quotes and chase them so you do not have to. You choose the firm, you book them, and you pay them directly at the price they quoted.
Not a clearance company, we do not own vans, so we have no reason to steer you. Not a lead factory. Not a directory anyone can buy their way onto. Nobody pays for a better position on ClearSorted.
Clearance firms pay us a percentage of the job, and only when they win one. Homeowners, executors and landlords pay nothing, ever. Because firms only pay on success, we have no incentive to send you a quote from someone who will not turn up, and no incentive to send your job to twenty firms.
Where we work
London and the South East, expanding area by area, and only where we have firms we have actually vetted. If we cannot cover your postcode yet we will say so straight away rather than take your details and hope.
